Abbott Molecular Our Des Plaines, IL site has an opportunity for a Supervisor - Financial Planning & Analysis to join our team. This position supports the Abbott Molecular Global Operations & Supply Chain Organization and is ideal for someone seeking broad experience in Operations & Supply Chain financial planning, reporting and cost accounting.

  • Act in the role of key finance stakeholder who works with Operations and Supply Chain business partners leading financial planning, forecasting and continuous improvement to supporting Operations management decision making.

  • Financial Planning and Analysis –

  • Prepare monthly P&L and balance sheet reports. Develop detailed financial forecasts incorporating historic, trended and current business information and provide insights into business risks and opportunities. Working with all areas of eth Finance team and business partners to review results and explain variances. Meet with business partners to prepare well supported quarterly LBEs for P&L and Balance sheet items. Coordinate preparation of quarterly LBE financial schedules and presentations.

  • Annual Standard Setting –

  • In collaboration with other members of the Operations Finance team set standard costs. Coordinate with OUS Financial affiliates on transfer pricing, exchange rates, and standard cost alignment.

  • Financial Reporting –

  • Monthly financial close duties US Operations business (primarily Supply Chain and Procurement management) working closely with Genpact (Abbott’s outsourcing partner). Prepare monthly financial reports (Flash and analysis of key variances) as required by business leaders and division finance. Provide necessary financial data to support day-to-day operations and decision making and be able to articulate/discuss key business drivers.

  • Coordinate preparation of monthly Balance Sheet and P&L commentary.

  • Prepare journal entries and assist in month end close as needed to ensure proper accounting at the functional and departmental level. Monitor functional and departmental spending versus budget by highlighting material variances using system generated detail and trend reports.

  • Inventory management - Coordinate with Genpact on monthly Inventory reconciliation and cycle count process. On quarterly basis prepare Inventory analysis and review it together with Operations Finance and key business partners.

  • Ad-hoc Projects – Work on adhoc projects supporting gross margin cost improvements initiatives, financial analysis on key business issues and reporting as required.

  • Process Improvements - Identify areas that can be improved and constructively propose new solutions that drive efficiencies. Develop and utilize sound financial processes to drive improved business performance.

  • Compliance - Ensures appropriate integrity and reasonableness of financial data as well as compliance with

  • Corporate/Division financial policies and procedures and understanding of GAAP. Responsible for adherence to Abbott accounting policies and procedures (CFMs).

  • Relationships - Build and maintain working relationships with internal and external business

  • Provide financial support and fully support achievement of financial plans, goals and objectives.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting

  • Minimum 5 years of Finance/Accounting experience

  • Ability to work independently

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Proficiency with MS Excel and Access

  • Proficiency with TM1/SAP/HFM, preferably proficiency with Avante.

*Job requires flexibility and prolonged work schedule, which is tied to monthly business close calendar and ad hoc business support.
