Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of OE/HES Specialist located in Port Arthur, TX through January 2, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).


Ensures and administers safety, fire and health compliance with government regulations and company policies and standards for lubricant plants. Recommends changes where appropriate and within budget plan and makes physical changes to plant. Responsible for all Governmental and Company required reporting and postings in the area of HES compliance with a focus on environmental.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

Review and evaluate new legislation and regulations which affect the plant. Provide functional managers with recommendations to achieve compliance. Analyzes reports from LPS, and other safety related data and recommend action, as required. Participates in loss investigations and development of solutions and corrective actions.

Provide functional expertise to plant management for development of OE, HES, LPS and Human Performance processes to meet plant expectations. Provide training on OE processes for workforce.

Participate, coordinate and provide information to the PALP Leadership Team and plant Health and Safety committees.

Manages Active Learner training programs for Operator competencies and coordinates work instruction updates for the program.

Participate in corporate compliance and OE reviews.

  • OE/HES Expertise: Strong understanding of the OE Management System Process and Global OE Standards. Success in managing and supporting OE processes related to Safety, Health, Environment and Emergency Management, including Safe Work Practices & Standards, and Occupational Health & Environmental Stewardship. Demonstrated commitment and track record in promoting Chevron Way and OE behaviors. Strong Proficiency in LPS, Safe Work Practices, Behavior Based Safety, MOC.

  • Leadership/Decision-making: Demonstrated success in leading and executing change in an operating environment. Demonstrated ability to make complex decisions. Ability to lead as an influencer to ensure employees and contractors perform their jobs safely, in an incident-free manner, reliably, efficiently and in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and company policies.

  • Lubricants Operations – E xperience in and understanding of Lubricants Plant Operations. Understanding of safe work processes and environmental processes.

  • Analytical: Identifies root causes of problems; data-driven, leverages tools and processes for planning and execution. Audit compliance with Incident Reporting and Investigation Process.

  • Teamwork/Communication: Ability to interact, influence, and manage cross-departmentally. Strong cross-functional and teamwork skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with Downstream & Chemicals or Upstream oil and gas operations.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage OE Processes in the capacity of OE Champion and process advisor.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of both Federal and Texas OSHA regulations.

  • Demonstrated understanding of Loss Investigations techniques, including 5-Why and Taproot.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in all components of the OE Management System (OEMS).

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (both oral and written) with and influence all levels of business unit employees including senior management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HES, Engineering or related discipline. Equivalent experience in HES related roles may be accepted in lieu of degree.
