Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Works as part of a group of operators responsible for operations of the plant, which include tasks such as blending lubricants, shipping and receiving bulk trucks and railcars, operating package fill lines, operating forklifts

  • Actively support Health, Environment, and Safety (HES) processes by accomplishing daily activities within applicable regulations and policies, carrying out duties in an environmentally conscious manner, following safe operating practices, maintaining a safe working environment, participating in Human Performance and Loss Prevention System being prepared to respond to an environmental or safety event

  • Ensures all work performed adheres to Chevron's Operational Excellent (OE) standards and regulatory and code requirements

  • This position requires driving on a routine basis

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Prcoess Technology degree, or Associates degree or Minimum of 1 year experience in lubricants, oil and gas or related petrochemical or process industries

  • A good understanding of manufacturing facilities.

  • Good mathematics and reasoning skills a necessity

  • This is a Union Represented Position.

    Preferred Qualifications:

• A minimum of 1 year of lubricants operator experience or 3 years of other petroleum or chemical operator experience. (Will consider military experience or an Associate’s Degree in Process Technology in lieu of required operator experience)

• Basic knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and an aptitude for learning new software packages

• Familiar with Reliability efforts (such as but not limited to: RCA, 5-Why, Fault Tree) for a variety of safety, environmental and reliability efforts

• A background in Chevron Operating Control Systems and process control systems

• Good working knowledge of plant operations which includes basic pipe, valve, and tank knowledge as well as tank trucks and loading rack equipment.

Industrial Information Test

Measures the ability to read, understand, and use information in graphs, charts, tables, and written passages to solve problems.

Mechanical Aptitude Assessment

Measures the ability to apply general mechanical principles to understand and solve problem situations.

Workplace Attitude and Behavior Inventory

Measures personal characteristics important to success in the job applied for.

You will be immediately directed to the testing portal upon submittal of your application, at which point you will have 72 hours to complete the on-line assessment. The duration of the assessment is approximately 2 hours. The assessment can also be accessed from your Chevron profile under “Job Management” or via the link sent to your email.

Your assessment score will be valid for 365 days from the day you complete your on-line assessment.

Chevron's tests are focused on industrial aptitudes. However, Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test preparation guides may be helpful in preparation for these tests. Candidates should focus on mechanical aptitude, reading comprehension, understanding information in tables and graphs, and understanding industrial math.
