Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Environmental Specialist – Air located in Richmond, CA through January 7, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
The Environmental Specialist resides in the Health, Environmental and Safety Division for the Richmond, California Refinery. This position will work with Operations, Maintenance, Project Services, Technical, and HES personnel to evaluate Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) permit applicability and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) applicability. This position will prepare and submit the facility’s air construction permit applications and CEQA applications and implement compliance with City permits and BAAQMD permits.
Two or more years of experience with New Source Review air construction permitting in the United States.
Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering or similar engineering field;
Demonstrated experience in interpreting and implementing environmental regulations for petroleum refineries, managing large quantities of environmental data, and developing efficient and accurate tools and work processes.
Strong problem-solving skills; able to quickly identify and evaluate vulnerabilities/opportunities, develop solutions, and make recommendations given uncertainties, risks, and multiple business values;
Strong time management and organization skills; able to regularly prioritize multiple and competing work deliverables and create time-bound project plans and execute with excellence; able to keep files organized and good working order
Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills to explain facts or concepts clearly and concisely to a variety of internal and external stakeholdersThe successful candidate must be able to understand, interpret, and implement complex environmental regulations. This position also requires the skills to manage multiple tasks concurrently; to critically and accurately evaluate an environmental issue, pro-actively review available information, identify assumptions, risks, and uncertainties, and make recommendations to management. The position requires a demonstration of strong verbal and written communication skills with a variety of internal stakeholders. The successful candidate must also be comfortable representing the company and engaging with competitors and government officials.
Subject matter expert with New Source Review regulations and BAAQMD regulations.
Strong proficiency with petroleum refinery process units and environmental control technologies
Environmental regulatory compliance experience at a California-based facility
Subject matter expert with Clean Air Act regulations and Title V Permit for Petroleum refining facilities. Environmental Compliance and Refinery Proficiency
Experience with interpreting and implementing environmental regulations for U.S. petroleum refineries
Experience with managing large quantities of environmental data; proficiency with Excel
Experience with developing efficient and accurate compliance assurance tools and work processes.
