Cleveland Clinic Lead security officer in Stuart, Florida


Supervises site security operations on a specific shift, prepares routine documentation of security activity and initiates investigations as necessary.

  • Ensures proper incident reports, pass on reports, shift reports, logs, proxi-rounds, etc are completed.

  • Assists with training newly hired Officers; assists with training line Officers in new policies, procedures and departmental standards.

  • Ensures high visibility of Security presence within facilities.

  • Inspects Security Officers uniforms and preparedness for duty at the start of and throughout the shift.

  • Coordinates with and keeps Security Supervisors informed of activities, needs and problems.

  • Coordinate, schedule and monitor Security activities to ensure a safe and secure environment for staff, patients, students and visitors.

  • Protect MHS property and other assets.

  • Responds to requests for assistance in a courteous and professional manner.

  • Maintain supplies and department equipment.

  • Assists Security Supervisors in annual reviews and disciplinary action for line Security Staff.

  • Assists Security Supervisors in preparing and maintaining work schedules.

  • Conducts Safety Inspections,unit level fire drills and Environment of Care rounds.

  • Complies with established corporate and departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance methods, and safety codes.Demonstrates compliance with licensing, regulatory and accrediting agency provisions as required.

  • Consistently demonstrates appropriate and professional communication behavior toward patients, customers, and coworkers. Cooperates with Management and peers to promote an environment of teamwork and collaboration.

  • Patrols hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders.Reports safety and/or fire hazards or security violations.Recognizes and corrects safety deficiencies in all hazard groups.

  • Secures and/or unlocks offices and facilities.

  • May stand by and monitor behavior of patients who have been designated as involuntarily held prior to transport to another facility.Monitoring includes assuring that patient does not leave the bed/facility, or cause harm to themselves or others.

  • Provides restraints for and on patients as needed.

  • Responsible for seeking Nursing staff assistance for any clinical or hygiene issues that arise during the security monitoring of patients.

  • Receives bodies of deceased patients, places bodies in compartment trays, ensures proper compartment label, and record of death form accompanying body.Releases body to authorized persons.

  • Responds to inquiries for advice or assistance from Associates, students, patients, and visitors.

  • Escorts personnel/visitors to parking lots, hospital buildings.

  • Secures patient valuables or lost and found articles; maintains logs of items received.

  • Controls parking and traffic flow; enforces parking regulations and compliance.

  • Assists with the enforcement of applicable health system and departmental policies and procedures.

To effectively fulfill this position, candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of security experience preferred.

  • Valid Class Florida Driver's License with a MHS acceptable record; must be able to meet and maintain corporate driver standards;

  • Valid Class D Security License required at time of hire;

  • IAHSS Certification at the Advanced Level required with successful completion within 6 months of date of hire.

  • Competency in basic computer applications to include email required; electronic report writing (CESI),Visitor Management System, preferred;
